Questions about German police bayonets... (Gazette 14 - Article 5)

Photo

The The German Police, during the WW2, is a large organisation mostly divided in two large groups (to make it simple as it’s not the main subject of this article). The so called « civilian » police, which operates mainly on the German territory, and the military police on charge of the occupied territories and of the fighting zones. The first one is in police uniform or plain clothes; the second one is in uniform, almost identical to the Army uniform but with Police insignias. A joined picture shows a policeman wearing a military uniform with his police insignias, on the fatigue cap and on the shoulder patch (left arm).
As the main purpose of the Gazette is The Bayonet, we will do that. On this photo, the policeman is with his bayonet. Looking closer, you can see it’s not the usual 1884/98 as expected but an Austrian M1895 for Cavalry. ....
