Swiss yatagan bayonet for the italian police. (Gazette 17 - Article 2)

Photo

I would like to present the highlights of my article that appeared in the centerfold of Volume 70, Winter 2009 Issue of the SABC Journal. I believe this is one of the most beautiful bayonets that I have ever seen, and I’d like to share my photos (in color) with fellow IBA members. This yataghan bayonet accompanies a Swiss-made single shot m1870 Vetterli Carbine (10.4 mm Italian centerfire) intended for trials and eventual sale to the Italian Police. It is documented that 21 of these carbines were known to have been made for evaluation. My carbine is numbered “13”. The receiver is stamped “SOC.IND. SUISSE” above a Swiss Cross, and “SYST. VETTERLI” below.
