Courrier des adhérents. (Gazette 20 - Article 9)

Nous ne pouvons rester en si bon chemin et je continue donc à éditer les courriers des lecteurs de notre Gazette. Tout d’abord une réponse parvenue d’un membre US de notre association pour faire suite à l’article sur les 1898/05 SPLITTER. Cette réponse, parvenue par le net il y a quelques temps, va dans le sens de ce qui a été déjà dit :
De Shawn GIBSON : le 19/11/2010 : I'm a bit behind on reading. Just went through the September issue. About the purpose of the splitter. I believe the airplane bombing connection is just some misinformation from a confused museum curator. I believe these were made for the purpose of splitting small pieces of wood into kindling. A 6 inch piece of thin lumber or wood fits well into the little notches and the blade can be pressed down to split the wood. They were originally attached to a wood base. I had one years ago on the original base. They must have been made for an English speaking market, probably the US. Since they are so rare this must have been a failed commercial attempt...
