In many books related to the bayonets, we can find the description of a so called Chilean “police” dagger. This dagger is ell known by many collectors and looks like a bayonet. Actually it has a quillon turned frontward and a filial looking like a flattened bowl. On the other side of the crossguard is a muzzle ring with a protrusion. The blade is T shaped and the handle is solid brass with hatchings like on the German M1871 with the well known Chilean coat of arms at the bottom. The pommel is shaped like on the German M1871, there is no slot. The scabbard is steel, painted black, was a brass hook and brass tip. |
