La fu-ma-co des hallebardiers de la Royale. (Gazette 13 - Article 3)

This very beautiful, rare and interesting bayonet was directly made in the « Special Items » workshops of the Arsenal de Toulon or, to be more precise, in one of the workshops of the Naval Aviation Base at CUERS-PIERREFEU. This base is well known by the specialists of Naval Air equipments due to the famous «DIXMUDE» hangars on its tarmac (now destroyed).
When I state “special items », it’s not about ultra sophisticated devices for secret agents or other super heroes of our discreet but efficient « Naval Surety », but mainly any style of « souvenirs » :
Personalized muzzle covers for VIPs, bronze plaques to honnor a Vessel or a Campaign, flag holder, hallberds for admirals, etc…
At the very end of the Algeria War and on the request of a Marine Comando “Boss”, 40 daggers bayonets usually nicknamed “FUMACO” were modified.
