An atypical turkish bayonet model 1935 (Gazette 13 - Article 4)

Photo

Generaly, the Turkish bayonet Model 1935 either newly made, or various origin shortened (including german ersatz), as made with a ca. 10 inches blade length. However it sometimes happens to find one of these with only an 8 inch blade.
I will describe here one having this atypical blade length.
It is a German ersatz bayonet, of the most common model with stamped steel handle, usually identified as “Carter number 3” or “EB 3”, due to its classification in Anthony Carter’s huge study “German bayonets vol. 3”.
This bayonet has the usual blade fullers, the crossguard made of two steel plates riveted to the tang, the rear one being opened to act as a muzzle ring and machined with two slightly different bores to be fitted either on the “KomissionGewehr M88” or the “Mauser Gewehr M98”.
