A spanish knife bayonet from Eibar. (Gazette 16 - Article 7)

As I was making a final survey of the tables one hour prior to closing of the Baltimore Antique Arms Show in March, I spotted this little bayonet in the corner of a display case. I have no idea how I could have missed this gem earlier in the show…the seller said it had been in that location since dealer’s set-up on Friday. I bought it without hesitation. Establishing the identity of this bayonet was very simple. The obverse ricasso is etched “EIBAR” and the reverse “1881”.
In the latter half of the 19th Century, the gunmaking factory at Eibar, Spain was known to produce fancy damascened and heavily etched and engraved weapons, including firearms and edged weapons...
