A german bayonet M1888... (Gazette 16 - Article 8)

As written in the Gazette number 15 editorial, Jean Marc is gone, but his texts are still there and will survive to him. The editorial staff had the obligation to print his papers in the next issues. Today is the first one. Let’s him speak !:
German Model 1888. Just now we have to state that! This bayonet is quite inspired from the Austrian model of the same year, but had been manufactured in Germany by Alex Coppel in Solingen. It is stamped with the name of this factory on the blade.
The dimensions are quite close of these of the Austro-Hungarian M1888. The great difference is for the locking system which is larger on the Austrian bayonet than on the German one.
We can find the same difference on the German made M1895. Not only the size is different but the shape too. The following photos are the proof.
