Many years ago, when I was looking for documentation as any collector, I bought a book by the late Anthony Carter about the German Bayonets 1898/02 and 1898/05. Like all my fellows collectors, I read and re-read this book summary of all the period knowledge on this subject. Nothing better was written since, only found new markings and new regimental markings. I very frequently read this book to refresh my mind and it’s quite useful. On page 62 of this book, is a one page description, with a photo and the reprint of an article’s photo about the use of the 1898/05 bayonet not thought by its creators. It is about the SPLITTER...
