Bayonets, and after ? (Gazette 18 - Article 4)

The two world wars have left behind them many souvenirs of all sorts as well on the battle fields as in far away places. These wars have devastated the Countries where they were fought with indelible marks on the surviving soldiers and too in the fields where they took place.
The equipments found on place were very often used by the professionals as tools, souvenirs or weapons. These modifications are the purpose of this article.
The battles have damaged many of these equipments then modified to give them another use, particularly for the bayonets modifies as trench knives.
We will describe here a few of them found in the North of France and kept in many collections. These items had a life, an authenticity that the weapons which never left the storage or remaining in brand new condition never had...
